Joseph Little Architects are committed to being at the forefront of environmentally sustainable design and construction in Ireland. We design, build and promote best practice, healthy, Passive House and low carbon approaches to new build and retrofit projects.
We are unusual in that we embrace the scientific as much as aesthetic sides of architecture. We see no conflict between creating buildings that are light-filled, elegant and practical, but also high performing and very energy efficient. Winning 'Best Residential Building' in the 2013 Green Awards for Ireland's first certified retrofit of any building type to 'EnerPHit' standard proves that: see 'Monkstown EnerPHit'.
We are as comfortable working with lime and mortar for conservation projects as with external wall insulation for Passive House projects: the 'science of architecture' is what connects them. In each case our inhouse building evaluation team, Building Life Consultancy, is available to provide support.

Take costs seriously. We use cost control tools that we've created inhouse to use on Day 1 of a project (before much effort or cost has been borne) and later when a BER exists to assess payback and financial value of a defined project. Above a certain size of project a quantity surveyor is also advisable.
