This project, carried out as a sub-contract to The Architecture Company, featured a hotel, a gallery, shops, offices, underground park-n-ride, supermarket, apartments, duplexes, townhouses on an 800m long site in Sallins. Our sub-contracting team brought the project from Planning through tender documentation (for all buildings) and completion of Phase 1 and halfway through Phase 2. See ‘Commercial’ and ‘Education’ for specific aspects of this development.
The centre of the whole development is the curved pedestrian walkway from the bus stop past hotel, offices and crèche to Pluvia House with its 72 apartments, 2-storey drum-shaped prestige office, smaller local offices, shops and raised courtyard garden over a central supermarket.
A line of feature lamp standards emphasise the curve, while raised planters (some of which hide vents to the underground carpark) are interspersed with benches with low walls to separate the central surface carpark from the pedestrian zone. The paving patterns re-inforce the special nature of the route and the buildings lining the other side of the walkway.
The range of work was diverse, ranging from establishing boundary conditions with Iarnród Éireann, negotiating with signage companies for a bus stop, choosing street furniture, numbering houses and land registry negotiations and submissions.
