This building was built as a free-standing extension of the Main Building of Ballyfermot College of Further Education. It was designed to house the media courses of the college, including TV, film and journalism. It was built and fitted-out for €9m.
Joseph Little brought the project through the final stages of Planning and DES approvals, then through Fire Certification, Tender and Construction while employed as project architect in Oppermann Associates from 1999 to 2003.
The building features a large multi-purpose hall with retractable seating, automated blinds, lowerable set and lighting booms, stage, tuned acoustic boxes, other acoustic claddings. 30 and 50dB acoustic sliding doors, double-suspended ceilings with resilient hangers and a high level of acoustic sealing throughout also feature.
